We study the evolution of a single intergalactic cloud which gets overrun by the lobe of an expanding radio jet. We find that its evolution is dominated by radiative cooling, and that the strongly compressed cloud fragments into an ensemble of cloudlets. These cloudlets are dense and small enough to support star formation, and our results thus support the idea of jet induced star formation.
