A brief review of work on the emission-line spectra of QSOs is given. Data on radio-emitting and radio-quiet objects are discussed, with sections dealing with the lines that are observed, the distributions of redshifts obtained from the emission lines, and a selection of particular problems posed by current observations. These include a discussion of QSOs with atypical spectra, the Lyman/Balmer/Paschen relative line strengths, the abundances of the elements, correlations of observed properties, and gas flow within the emission-line region.
