The capture of either a giant (G) star or a main sequence (MS) star can trigger the black hole Sgr A* to temporarily act like an active galactic nucleus. This mechanism has been proposed as a possible source for the observed non-thermal TeV gamma-ray emission from the center region of our galaxy. The total kinetic energy deposited in this way is found to be large enough in both the G star and the MS star cases. As an energy reservoir for the very high energy (VHE) gamma-ray emission, it depends on the radiation efficiency that transfers the energy created during the stellar capture and disruption processes. Since the mass-radius relation is quite different for MS and G stars, we find that the radiation efficiencies of the MS star capture and the G star capture are also very different. This may provide a useful way to distinguish the MS star capture process and the G star capture process. Paying special attention on the radiation efficiency of the capture process and Comparing with observations of the VHE gamma-ray emissions, we suggest the event that triggers the gamma-ray emission in the energy range 4-40 TeV should be a G star capture. And if the measured spectrum extends from 109-1015eV, the capture of MS stars by the black hole is required.
