Alternate tests for absolute motion in cosmology merit renewed attention because of the Rubin-Ford (1973) anisotropy. One such test, 'geodesic deviation' (effects of the Riemann tensor), is reexamined. A recent calculation which would suggest a large effect on ultrarelativistic particles is shown to yield a large result only in their own rest frame, and so be essentially inaccessible to experimental test. For slower test particles, the effect of inhomogeneities is estimated and is also shown to dominate in realistic situations. Thus, the test remains only of theoretical interest.
