Results are reported for an extensive calculation concerning C III transition probabilities, particularly those for certain intercombination lines. The method used is outlined, emphasizing the transition probability operators and eigenfunctions. The configurations that constitute the basis for the expansion of the eigenfunctions are listed, the mean radii of the radial functions entering one configuration are given, and intercombination transition probabilities and energy separations are presented. The accuracy of the results is discussed, and the line strengths obtained are compared with previous calculations of comparable complexity. Line strengths and transition probabilities are tabulated for individual lines of the n 2 multiplets computed in intermediate coupling.
