We report the discovery of a single X-ray burst from the direction of the anomalous X-ray pulsar 1E 1048.1-5937, in data from the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer Proportional Counter Array, obtained on June 29, 2004. The burst is present in all operational PCUs. A preliminary inspection shows that the burst properties are qualitatively similar to the two bursts observed in 2002 from this direction by Gavriil, Kaspi & Woods (2002, Nature, 419, 142).
