The morphological structures of planetary nebulae (PNe) can be separated into spherically symmetric multiple-shell structures and axial- or point-symmetric structures. While the former can be successfully explained by a 1-D interacting stellar winds model, the latter requires that the fast wind be asymmetric and time variable in magnitude, velocity, and direction. The collimation of the fast wind into a small solid angle may require binary interaction, rotation, and/or magnetic fields. The fact that many bipolar nebulae are seen in symbiotic systems raises the question whether some PNe are truely PNe, or misclassified symbiotic stars. The problem of the definition of PNe, and how they can be distinguished from symbiotic stars, is also discussed.
