We present mid-infrared observations of the Red Rectangle nebula, collected at La Silla Observatory (ESO, Chile), with a spatial resolution of ˜ 0.7". Using these infrared images and a simplified model, we have derived the dust temperature and density profiles in the outer envelope of this nebula. We have found that the total mass of the dust in the outer envelope of the nebula ranges from 3 10-8 M&sun; to 3.5 10-6 M&sun;.
