It is shown that the Li production by galactic C-stars in the solar neighborhood is completely dominated by only one object, IY Hya. If the derived abundances and the deduced mass-loss of this star are correct, the continued presence of two or three stars with these characteristics would be sufficient to account for the total lithium content of the solar neighborhood.
