The currently most promising model to explain the explosion of massive stars (8 Msun ⪉ M ⪉ 25 Msun) in type-II supernovae is the "delayed mechanism" by neutrino heating. The author has investigated the formation and evolution of the hot bubble region around the newly born neutron star by long-time hydrodynamical simulations carried out under the assumption of spherical symmetry.
