WE WILL OBTAIN FOS UV/OPTICAL SPECTRA OF TWO CHEMICALLY EXTREME EMISSION KNOTS IN THE O-RICH SUPERNOVA REMNANT N132D IN THE LARGE MAGELLANIC CLOUD. THE SPATIAL RESOLUTION OF HST WILL PERMIT US TO OBTAIN SPECTRA OF INDIVIDUAL KNOTS HAVING VERY DIFFERENT OPTICAL CHARACTERISTICS THAT ARE BLENDED TOGETHER IN SPECTRA OBTAINED WITH IUE. THE OPTICAL DATA WITH THE SAME APERTURES IN THE SAME POSITIONS WILL ENSURE A PROPER UV/OPTICAL COMPARISON. THESE DATA WILL PROVIDE IMPORTANT DIAGNOSTICS OF THE EXCITATION MECHANISMS IN THIS OBJECT AS WELL AS TESTS OF NUCLEOSYNTHESIS THEORIES FOR MASSIVE STARS, AND WILL PERMIT AN IMPROVED UNDERSTANDING OF THE DYNAMICS OF SN EXPLOSIONS AND MIXING IN THE EJECTA.
