The differences between the fundamental-plane (FP) and the Dn-sigma relation, both of which have been used for obtaining distances to single galaxies, are determined using new photometric data reported by Jorgensen et al. (1992) for the Coma Cluster to obtain the FP and the Dn-sigma relation for the cluster and to investigate the sources of scatter in the two relations. The Dn-sigma relation was found to have a scatter equivalent to distance uncertainties of 17 percent, much larger than the 11 percent scatter for the FP, similar to the result obtained by Lucey et al. (1991), who used a linear fit in a restricted interval in order to incorporate the effect in the distance determination. After discussing possible sources of the existing discrepancies, it is concluded that the FP is to be preferred as a distance indicator.
