A stellar occultation by Pluto was observed on 31 July 2007 from Mt John Observatory (New Zealand), Canopus Observatory (Hobart, Australia) and Canberra, Australia.The timing at Mt John indicates a nearly central event for that station. At the date of writing this abstract, data analysis is very preliminary, and a more detailed account of results will be given at the meeting. We will discuss in more details the possible detection of a central flash at Mt John, observed with a dual-wavelength camera (blue and red bands), which may place stringent constraints on the presence of aerosols in Pluto's lower atmosphere.
