On June 5th 2007, the ESA's Venus Express Mission was joined for a few hours by NASA's MESSENGER, flying by Venus while on its way to Mercury. It was initiated a world coordinated observational campaign between May and June 2007 to observe the atmosphere of Venus. We present submillimeter observations of 12-CO and 13-CO lines of the Venusian mesosphere with the Submillimeter Telescope (SMT) taken during June 2007. The observations cover a wide range of different beam positions at the Venus disk.
We report here Doppler winds, vertical profile of temperature, and CO mixing ratio which are retrieved by using an optimal estimation algorithm. Furthermore this study attempts to contribute to cross-calibrate space - and ground-based observations, to constrain radiative transfer and retrieval algorithms for planetary atmospheres, and to a more thorough understanding of the global circulation of the Venusian atmosphere.
