Theories suggesting that the laboratory value of gravitation might differ from the gravitation value at infinity are considered, but the described analysis suggests that observational data for white dwarfs are consistent with the theory of stellar evolution only if the two values of gravitation differ by not more than approximately 10%. A greater discrepancy would require abandonment of basic assumptions such as evolution without mixing or the theory of universal Fermi interactions. The results of the analysis support Einstein's theory of gravitation.
