Theoretical emergent profiles in the resonance lines of H I Lyman α, Mg II h & k and Ca II H & K formed in quiescent prominences are presented. Both partial frequency redistribution effects and two-dimensional structure have been included in the calculations. The prominence model consists of a static, isobaric and isothermal freestanding slab irradiated by realistic chromospheric profiles (080-8 observations). We compare the differences between complete (CRD) and partial frequency redistribution (PRD). Vertical variations in the emergent profiles are displayed, and the importance of the geometrical effects is discussed. In addition, we have evaluated both emergent profiles for a filament as seen over the disk, and the back-scattered radiation towards the chromosphere.
