Scientific paper

Using ACIS-I, we propose to observe a Galactic HII region (NGC7538) in search for X-ray activities from an unambiguous sample of massive young stars in the mass accretion phase. By comparing its X-ray features with those of massive ZAMS stars and low-mass pre--main-sequence stars, we will investigate the X-ray emission mechanism of massive young stars and how much contribution they make to the diffuse X-ray emission of HII regions and to the Galactic ridge emission.
