First light of the SUBARU Telescope was made on December 24, 1998 and sevral astronomical results were obtained since then. We report one of the main results, infrared observations of the Orion star forming region. J, K', and H2 v=1-0 S(1) images were obtained for about 5' by 5' region centered on Trapezium with a seeing size of about 0.4" - 0.5". We detected nearly 600 point sources in the K' band with a detection limit of 16.6 mag(10 σ), much lower than the stellar limit of 13.5 mag (t = 1 Myr and AV = 2.5 mag). K' band luminosity function shows a turnover at 12 ~ 13 mag as was suggested previously. Detailed sturctures of the shocked molecular hydorgen emission of the Orion KL outflow were revealed. To the south, filamentary structures were found in the molecular hydrogen emissions at the Orion Bright Bar and the Orion S region. We also detected three compact (< 2") molecular hydrogen emitting objects. They are not associated with any strong near-infrared continuum sources nor proplyds. They are located farther away from θ1 Ori C than most "proplyds" and their preferencial directions are not aligned toward θ1 Ori C.
