Bright-rimmed clouds/globules found in/around HII regions are potential sites of triggered star formation due to compression by the curved ionization/shock front (e.g., radiation-driven implosion). Many of them are associated with IRAS point sources having cold color indices and are most probably YSOs or protostars. We systematically searched for such objects and cataloged altogether 89 objects. We have subsequently conducted near-IR imaging of 44 bright-rimmed clouds (BRCs) with IRAS sources in the northern sky and revealed that many of them are associated with small young clusters or aggregations. Some of the clusters are elongated along the axes of the bright-rimmed clouds, and IR color distribution of the member stars indicate a tendency that the cluster members are spatially aligned in an age sequence with older stars located closer to the exciting star(s) of the HII region and the younger stars closer to the IRAS source. This distribution as well as and our recent Hα grism observations strongly suggest "small-scale sequential star formation" along the axis of the cloud caused by the outward advance of ionization/shock front of the HII region. Molecular line observations show evidence for the interaction of BRCs with the expanding HII region. This probably supports triggered star formation in BRCs.
