We show that the color indices (B - V)0, (V - R)0, (R - I)0 of the optical afterglow of GRB030329 were consistent with those of the other OAs during t - T0 < 10 days. This suggests that the synchrotron component was initially dominant in the spectrum. Large color variations emerge only for t - T0 > 20 days and suggest a rapid spectral evolution of the underlying supernova SN 2003dh.
