We investigate the difference in structure between RR Lyrae ab type and
Cepheid envelopes. Specifically we show that the hydrogen ionization
zone is located much further out in the envelope for a RR Lyrae star
than for a Cepheid. This leads to an interesting difference in their
pulsation.
