The radio galaxy PKS B1718-649 has the appearance of a high luminosity elliptical with faint spiral structure. The galaxy is found to have 3.1x10^10^Msun_ of atomic hydrogen (for Ho =50km/s/Mpc). The velocity field in the gas is perturbed and a possible interpretation is that the object is the result of a merger involving one or two luminous spirals. The relation to the strong radio Seyferts Mark 348 and Mark 231 is discussed.
