We have observed GRO J1655-40 with the ROSAT HRI between the first two
of the three outbursts in 1994. Besides improving the X-ray position we
derive a distance of d=~3kpc from the dust scattering halo. Combination
with radio measurements suggest that the X-ray emission originates in an
accretion disk or corona rather then in a jet.
