The Arcminute Microkelvin Imager Large Array (AMI-LA) reports a flare in the 1.8cm (16GHz) radio emission of T Tau. The flare occurred on 2011 November 6th (mJD 55871.1) with a flux density of 16.78+/-0.84 mJy, an excess of more than 50 per cent compared to the typical flux density of T Tau at this frequency, which is ~10mJy. The flare was accompanied by a change in spectral index to a more steeply rising spectrum.
