Cosmic rays were once considered to be an indication of unknown
cosmological processes, but they have turned out to be a minor product
of astrophysical processes. However, the puzzle of the high-energy end
of the cosmic-ray flux might bring about a radical change in physics,
including a discovery of violation of the principle of relativity.
