Dent and Balonek (1980) recently reported a large outburst in the radio source OV-236 (= 1921-293). Optical observations of the associated optical object have been made and it is found that it has a high degree of linear polarization, optical variability of 1 mag in 25 days, and an emission-line spectrum at a redshift z = 0.3525. It thus belongs to the small class of extragalactic objects whose properties are intermediate between those of 'classical' QSOs and BL Lac objects.
