The deposition function of gamma rays in the envelope of SN 1987A, its bolometric luminosity after maximum, and the gamma flux from the supernova are calculated analytically. The results are compared with numerical calculation and with observations of SN 1987A in the LMC. The influence of the explosion energy, ejected mass, initial radius of the progenitor, mass and distribution of freshly synthesized Ni-56, and gamma opacity on the light curves is investigated for a wide range of these parameters.
