Results are presented from 2 A resolution spectrograms of 2 A 0311-227. Emission line profiles are complex, comprising a broad weak base with velocity amplitude K = 600 km/s in the 81 minute orbit, a narrower main component for which K = 350 km/s, and sharp peaks which split (maximum separation approximately 500 km/s) and merge, at least two times, but probably four times, within the orbit. Measurements of these and other quantities are presented and discussed, together with photometric, X-ray, and polarimetric data, in terms of quadrupole or other field configurations.
