Vlasov-Maxwell equations have been employed to analyze the flow of plasma along the individual magnetic field lines of a nonaligned pulsar magnetosphere which, in the frame of reference corotating with the star, is time-stationary. The isorotation law is shown to be applicable to this system, and it is found that the development of a significantly large component of the electric field parallel to the magnetic field at the Alfvenic critical point of each line of force renders a continuous transition of the flow across the Alfven cylinder impossible. This result is independent of both the boundary conditions at the neutron star and the degree of charge separation of the magnetospheric plasma.
