Photoionization models are developed for homogeneous, stationary and optically-thin gas exposed to an ionizing UV flux. Multiple Auger effect and charge transfer reactions are included. All ions of heavy elements up to iron are considered. An application of these models to forbidden emission line region in some Seyfert galaxy nuclei and in a narrow-line radio galaxy indicates depletion of iron in such nuclei whereas in some cases, lighter metals are overabundant compared with 'cosmic' values.
