Results of polarization and photometric observations of the peculiar lenticular galaxy NGC 3718 are presented. The observations were made using the 48 cm telescope AZT-14 and the 2.6 m telescope of the Astronomical Observatory at Leningrad State University with the AFM-6 electropolarimeter. The results indicate the presence of strong reddening in the dark band, with color excesses reaching 1.0 m. Polarization of radiation, found in the region of the dark band, is observed to decrease with increasing distance from the center. The polarization is believed to be due to dust, and the polarization mechanism is probably the same as that which is responsible for interstellar polarization in the earth Galaxy. The data also imply a Davis-Greenstein orientation, which requires the existence of a magnetic field in the peculiar galaxy NGC 3718.
