Markarian 290 is a compact spheroidal galaxy with a high surface brightness. Based on the emission spectrum of the nucleus, Markarian 290 has been classified as a type 1 Seyfert (Khachikyan and Weedman, 1971). At a distance of less than 1 arcsec from the nucleus of Markarian 290, a blue formation with type 1 Seyfert features was observed in the direction of its assumed satellite; this formation is believed to be a second nucleus of Markarian 290. The profiles of hydrogen lines and relative intensities of the emission lines have also been obtained for the nucleus of Markarian 290. The profiles of H-beta and H-gamma are asymmetric, the asymmetry being time dependent. The nucleus shell has an electron temperature of 20,000 K, an electron density of 10 to the 9th/cu cm, and a mass equal to four solar masses. It is proposed that the blue gas condensation near the nucleus may have been formed by the interaction of the galaxy with detail 'a', which is considered to be a satellite of the galaxy.
