Precise positions, relative to the Perth 70 catalogue, have been obtained for the optical counterparts of 22 compact radio sources, south of δ ∼ +3°, used as position calibrators in the Parkes Survey. At least 8 of these sources are to present knowledge also good candidates for the ultimate purpose of being used to establish an inertial reference frame based on extragalactic radio sources.
