On September 22, 1978 the Sun was mapped at a wavelength of 8 mm (37 GHz) at the Radio Research Station of the Helsinki University of Technology in Finland. Enhanced radiation was found in the active region McMath 15,551. This region was monitored and the time variation of the radio flux was measured. During the observation a radio burst occurred between 11 56 and 13 06 UT. It corresponded in time to a flare observed in this region at N30 E49. The brightness temperature of the burst was 7900±800 K. The spectrum analysis of the burst indicates that there were pulsations with periodicities of 2.1 to 2.4s. Compatible periodicities were also found from the sequence of type III radio bursts which accompanied this flare. It is proposed that the observed burst was caused by quasi-periodically accelerated electron beams.
