SPEKTROSAT, the follow-up mission to ROSAT, will be equipped with a transmission grating spectrometer having spectral resolution of 0.2 A over the 6-200 A wavelength range. The spectrometer design and resolution are discussed, and the subsystem error budget for pointing is shown and compared to ROSAT. The grating efficiency and distortion are examined.
