SN 1987A has furnished an abundance of data on standard SN theory while deepening and enriching it. Attention is presently given to current understanding concerning the data yielded by observations of this SN to date, encompassing gamma rays and the SN 1987A light curve, the Kuiper Airborne Observatory's excellent IR spectra, ultrahigh energy gamma rays that have begun to leak through the SN's expanding shell, the possibility of detecting the 'light echo' effect of SN light's reflection upon encountering an obstacle, the formation of interstellar dust grains, and the question as to whether SNs can reexplode.
