Scientific paper
The Allende meteoroid is described and examined by means of a photomicrograph of a 3-mm chondrule. The chondrule-formation process is outlined, and special attention is given to the coarse-grained rim in the compound barred olivine chondrule caused by a reheating event in the surrounding dusty mantle. Reference is made to the statistical evidence that indicates the efficiency of the flash-heating mechanism responsible for chondrule formation.
