Problems with reconstructing images of X-ray stars from information obtained with rotation collimators are discussed. Algorithms are presented for reconstructing a family of non-negative pictures that are rigorously consistent with the information measured by rotation collimators. These algorithms require that the data be complex and Hermitian; it is strongly recommended that complex data be made available by employing a rigidly connected pair of almost identical collimators whose only difference is a quarter bar shift. The proposed reconstruction technique is demonstrated using the example of a solitary source and some variations of the technique are outlined.
