Phenomena related to the interaction between galaxies are discussed, including the activity of the nuclei of radio galaxies and the production of tides in the disks of spiral galaxies. The gravitational nature of the spiral structure of galaxies is discussed, and simple numerical models are considered. The pancake theory of galaxy deformation is reviewed and is illustrated with the example of the Milky Way. Following the formation of a ring galaxy from a galactic collision, the nucleus of the galaxy may be displaced to the vicinity of the companion. Arguments supporting and arguments contradicting the formation of elliptical galaxies by the fusion of two spirals are presented. The formation of shell galaxies from galactic collisions is also considered.
