The absorption spectrum of the radio source G 1.1-0.1 is studied by expanding spectra of a drift-scan on the source through a Karhunen-Loeve series. It is shown that this method allows the absorption lines to be separated and the original blended lines to be identified. It is also shown that a better estimate of a source's distance can be obtained for a given galactic model. This method is illustrated by reconstructing the absorption spectrum of G 1.1-0.1.
