The paper systematizes data available on isotope compositions of H, C, N, and O in 17 primordial chondrites and in a large number of interplanetary dust particle (IDP) samples (i.e., objects considered to be made of the least altered primordial matter). It is shown that all four elements in these samples have two different components, which have a nucleogenic or chemical origin. The processes involved in the formation of each of the isotopic components are considered in detail. It is shown that the IDPs have better preserved relics of primitive nucleosynthesis and interstellar-grain genesis than found in primordial chondrites.
