We have developed a technique to adaptively bin images of clusters. The technique attempts to keep the statistical error on the count in regions of the image below a threshold level. It uses small bin sizes in areas of high counts, and large bin sizes in areas of low counts. We demonstrate the algorithm on images the Perseus cluster taken by Chandra. The technique is flexible and is applicable to general diffuse X-ray images and to other kinds of astronomical data.
