This paper reports on the results of imaging of IRAS 09371 + 1212 and near infrared spectrophotometry measurements made with the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope. The images show a clear bipolar reflection nebula and indicate a disk structure; the spectra disclose a strong ice band at 3.1 microns. Both IR images and spectra indicate that a large fraction of the dust is concentrated in the inner few arcsec. The spectra also reveal a small feature at 3.4 microns, which may be attributed to a mixture of H2O ice and a small quantity of NH3. The observations confirm unambiguously two predictions made by Forveille et al. (1987), one concerning the bipolar nature of the IRAS 09371 + 1212 and the other presuming the existence of an important component of cold icy grains containing most of the oxygen not in CO or silicates.
