Chandra observations of the Cen A jet reveal a complex X-ray morphology of bright knots and diffuse emission. We concluded that this X-ray emission is due to synchrotron radiation from a population of ultrarelativistic electrons. We propose to reobserve the Cen A X-ray jet to search for intensity variations, spectral changes, and proper motions in the knots in order to test the synchrotron emission hypothesis. This followup observation will directly test this conclusion since spectral and intensity variations are predicted to be detectable on the time scale of one year due to the short particle lifetimes for synchrotron emission. We will search for proper motion of the X-ray knots to independently assess the importance of relativistic effects.
