The identification of regions of sequential massive star formation, using maser sources of H2O molecule as indicators is discussed. The equations that govern the evolution of a shock front produced by the ionizing radiation of an OB star group are derived. The stability conditions in this shock front are then analyzed. The binomial H2O maser-massiver star is examined to clarify why regions of recent star formation are being identified using maser sources. From the three choosen regions, RCW 19-20, RCW 38 and RCW 48-49, only RCW 38 shows the necessary conditions for the above identification.
