The relation between the broad absorption-line region and the broad emission-line region in QSOs is considered. It is demonstrated that the broad absorption-line region may give rise to a substantial, high-ionization, broad emission-line component. An inner low-ionization, broad emission-line component must also exist. Future models of the broad emission-line region must incorporate the constraints imposed by the analysis of broad absorption-line region data.
