The 166-alpha radio recombination lines of carbon and a heavier element identified as sulfur were observed from W48, S87, and S88B with the Arecibo 1000 foot (305 m) telescope. The C166-alpha line was observed from the C II region M78. Upper limits were set for the gaseous atomic abundances of silicon, magnesium, and iron from the absence of observable radio recombination lines. Lower limits were derived for gaseous atomic carbon.
