The authors present 408-MHz flux densities for 219 sources from the "1 Jy Catalogue" (Kühr et al. 1981). These data were used to investigate the low-frequency spectral index distribution of a complete sample of the 308 sources above declination -10° listed in the "1 Jy Catalogue". In combination with flux density measurements at higher frequencies the curvature of the spectra for different classes of radio sources is investigated.
