Apparent positions for astrolabe calculations may be computed on the basis of the adoption of a new set of astronomical constants, a new nutation theory, and the FK5 fundamental catalog of stars. Novel time scale and epoch values are also employed in these computations, whose mathematical methods are more rigorous than the conventional. This approach, originated by Fontaine and Dufour (1960), has been modified in order to take relativistic and secular aberration effects into account. Attention is given to the rotational method used to obtain the apparent positions of stars.
