Results are reported for a determination of the helium abundance of the star UV5, which is located in the globular cluster NGC 1851. Two image-tube spectra of the star are analyzed, identifications and strengths of the He I lines present in the star's spectrum are given, and atmospheric parameters are computed. A He/H abundance ratio of 0.1 is obtained, and it is noted that this value is not consistent with the star's post-asymptotic-giant-branch stage of evolution. The nature of the He observed in very luminous blue stars is considered.
